Default change the age in which i gain access to my trust fund

My Great Grandfather passed away a little while ago and his estate will be settled later this fall. I am set to receive 20% of his estate, when I turn 23. I want to receive access at the age of 18 which I think is more than reasonable. How can I go about changing the age that my grandfather set for me to receive my trust fund.

I don't care whether you think I should or not. I just want to know if this is at all possible and if so how would I go about doing it?

Also, I am starting college in a couple of months. Is there any way to gain control of part of the money in the trust for educational expenses?

One last detail, I live in the state of Washington and my Grandfather passed away in Kansas.

If the trust document says you do not receive the funds until age 23, there is nothing that can be done. No one has the power to deviate from the terms of the trust.

However, it is possible the trust document allows for possible distributions to you BEFORE age 23 for certain expenses. Educational and medical costs are typical examples.

Bottom line, you must read the trust document because that's what controls the distributions.
