Default my bank says i deposited a bounced check, but the source acct proves otherwise and there's proof my bank took the money.

I have a renter. The renter gave me a check for $905 to pay rent. I deposit the check on a Tuesday. On Saturday, i notice that according to my account, the check was "returned" and "charged back" with an additional charge back fee. When i called the bank for an explaination, i was told the check was returned due to insufficient funds. When i approached my renter about the issue, we both went to his bank and he was able to prove that my bank accepted the check and pulled the $905 from his bank. At this point, I'm not sure what to do. How do i get the two banks to talk, or is there anything i can do. Is there any legal rights that i have regarding this issue? As it stands from my point of view, my bank has stolen the $905 from both myself and my renter.
