Default are public schools funded by property taxes or something else

If it is true does that mean that lower income communities do not receive much funds for their public schools and higher income communities do and receive more benefits?

Depends on where you are. Public schools are funded by property taxes, federal and state government, and possible by other local taxes.

Public schools that are under the Common Core Standards (CCS) are funded by the Federal Government. States (in America) are not funded by CCS are not funded by the Federal Government, but by the states. But none of it comse from property tax, they come from your early taxations.
