Default i think i was treated unfairly in my work place. help

I live in WV and im a police officer. I was hired on full time by a small municipality and they forced me to work part time that same year due too lack of funds. The chief of police (dirt bag) was still employed full-time and did not receive a deduction in pay. I no longer work there and i haven't worked there for a year. They are attempting to sue me for violating a contract. The Mayor of this town has called my current employer and told them that im being sued. This Mayor is very shady and is doing this for his own personal gain. Please anyone. There suing me for 6,000 dollars and i refuse to pay due to the fact of how bad they treated me while i worked there. Please help me

Even if you feel like you were treated unfairly, if you signed an employment contract and you left the force on your own before the terms of the contract were up you violated the contract and you should be sued.

You should have worked your grievances through your union or through internal arbitration sources before quiting and walking off the job.

I don't see it working out any other way.

HUH? Just because they need to cut the hours for one staff member, does not mean they need to cut the hours for all staff members.

If you did something the costs the city/department $6000, you can expect to lose your court case. There is nothing illegal about him telling another municipality. You work in a close knit industry. One police chief is going to be friends with the others.
