I want to buy an item on ebay, but the price shows in Great British Pounds (GBP) and my countries currency is in dollars($) Would I pay in dollars but just in the equivalent of that price in GBP?

For example. The item I want to buy is 7.95 GBP, but underneath it shows the price in dollars($) 14.71. Would I end up paying $14.71 (in my countries currency) or would I still need to pay in GBP?

This may sound like a stupid question but my father says I can't since its in GBP, so i'm a little confused although I think I still would pay in $.

P.S. Underneath the GBP price, it shows the price in dollars underneath in smaller font (if you've ever shopped from another country on ebay you would know what i'm talking about.

If any of you have bought items from different countries in different currencies i'd really appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

With e-bay, they estimate the conversion in U.S. Dollars in the item posting. When you pay with PayPal, the payment from you is made in U.S. Funds. If you don't use PayPal and pay with a credit card, the credit card bank will handle the conversion. The conversion will be done in the transaction. There is no conversion calculations that you need to do.

Yes you would just pay the converted amount of your country. Since you pay with paypal ( usually ) and it just goes straight to the seller and gets converted automatically since you can buy anything from anywhere in the world on ebay .

If you're using paypal it should reflect the amount for the purchase in YOUR currency on your end
as well as be automatically converted to the seller's currency so neither of you have to worry about
having to exchange money from another country

If you use PayPal, you'll automatically be billed in your local currency.

But check the listing to be sure that the seller will ship to your country, and that if they do, the shipping charges are not exorbitant.
