Default about to apply for a paralegal role, but have 6 month old baby advice pls

One of the hardest things a new mother can do is leave the baby with a sitter while she goes out to work. There is no way to mitigate that feeling that you are making a very difficult choice. But that being said, consider the work--paralegals do a lot of "scut" work--and the job may be very stressful. It can also be exciting and interesting--but if the law office is a busy one, the stress will probably outweigh the excitement. And you'll have to pay for day care--and make sure it's reliable. That will mean you won't be able to take off if your child becomes ill, or you won't be there for "milestones" in his or her development either--as well as the other children. Both of these realities can cause even more stress.

It's not an easy decision--and you may want to take things a bit slower if you an at all afford to. I realize you're going to need the money--but working as a mother is not easy--or pleasant sometimes. And you will face a steep learning curve on a paralegal job--there are a lot of things to learn.

Figure out the day care first--then try it and see if it works for you. It may, or it may not. Don't beat yourself up for having to work--we all do. I raised two sons as a single parent--one was easy, one wasn't. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't work early in a child's life--I'd wait. But I had no choice then either. So I feel your pain. Best wishes to all of you.

Default about to apply for a paralegal role, but have 6 month old baby advice pls

Hi

My partner and I have 3 children, my last child is just 6 months.

Am about to look for a new job, have been working at advice centre for 2 years until I went on maternity leave. Just found out the funding for my role is due to come to an end before I return!! SO am looking for new roles, found a paralegal role with a charity (I have the relevant experience and qualifications to apply) but I am worried that the role might be a bit demanding with 3 kids, one of whom is just 6 months old. Its a full time position too - sadly I need to work FT to pay the mortgage

Should I forget about applying and just go for local authority roles/council jobs - go for an easy life basically.

I welcome advice from everyone especially working career mums and/or those working in the legal profession.

Would love to stay home with baby but sadly that simply isn't a financially viable idea.

Please keep advice positive - thanks
Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that local authority jobs are an easy life, but more that they have a little more job security than the private sector!!!!
